What CityLeaf Is

CityLeaf is an independent, editorially neutral directory of OCM-licensed cannabis retailers in New York City. We are not affiliated with any dispensary, brand, or cannabis company.

Every dispensary listing is manually verified against the New York Office of Cannabis Management's public registry before going live. We do not list unlicensed operators under any circumstances.

We built CityLeaf because the gap between licensed and unlicensed retail is a consumer safety issue — and no NYC-specific, verification-first directory existed. National platforms like Weedmaps list unlicensed shops alongside licensed ones. We don't.

Story Angles We Can Support

We can provide data, quotes, maps, and sourcing for any of the following angles.

NYC still has hundreds of unlicensed cannabis shops — here's how to tell the difference

CityLeaf cross-references every listing against the OCM registry. We can tell you exactly how many licensed shops exist per neighborhood and where the unlicensed-to-licensed ratio is worst.

Data available

OCM has issued cease-and-desist letters to 1,100+ unlicensed operators. CityLeaf tracks only the ~150 legal shops.

The licensed cannabis map of NYC, neighborhood by neighborhood

We've geocoded all 54+ OCM-licensed dispensaries by borough and neighborhood. Some areas have zero licensed options within a mile.

Data available

Staten Island and parts of the Bronx are nearly dispensary deserts for licensed retail. We have the data.

Cannabis tourists in NYC: what they need to know before they buy

Millions of tourists visit NYC annually. Most don't know how to spot a licensed shop. CityLeaf was built to solve exactly that.

Data available

We can speak to search patterns, most-searched neighborhoods, and what first-time buyers get wrong.

Equity licenses vs. chain dispensaries: who's winning in NYC's neighborhoods

The OCM prioritized equity licensing — people impacted by prior drug enforcement. We track which neighborhoods have equity-licensed shops.

Data available

Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy, Harlem, and Washington Heights have a disproportionate share of equity operators.

The NYC dispensary scene in 2026: what's changed, what hasn't

CityLeaf has been indexing the NYC cannabis market since legalization. We can provide year-over-year perspective on where the market stands.

Data available

Neighborhood-by-neighborhood breakdown, delivery availability gaps, consumption lounge rollout status.
